Five Tibetan Rites

The Five Tibetans are known as the ancient "Rites of Rejuvenation" or the "Fountain of Youth."

These Rites are ancient yogic practices which were performed for thousands of years by monks in remote Himalayan monasteries and were considered magical because of their remarkable healing and rejuvenating effects.

The Five Tibetans will strengthen, energize and balance you. You’ll feel healthier, more alive! They are known to enhance bone mass, eliminate double chins, boost memory and immunity, improve eyesight, posture/spinal health, and more. They work by speeding up and creating balance in the flow of energy through seven energy centers (chakras), thus normalizing hormonal and nerve imbalances.

The true benefits of the 5 Tibetans are on a far deeper, hormonal level. Eastern medicine speaks of the chakras, a series of energy vortexes along the vertical line of the body. It is generally accepted that these energy centres relate to the endocrine system in Western medicine. The theory behind the Rites suggests that as we age, these chakras (and therefore glands) become either over-stimulated or underactive, resulting in aging and degeneration.

The actual sequence (performance order) of the movements themselves is significant. In yoga terms, this sequence is perfectly designed to create the very energizing and mood uplifting effects on the body for which the Rites are renowned.

Some other benefits include:

-Feel calmer and less stressed – your buttons simply don’t get pushed as easily anymore

-Develop significant mental clarity with a razor sharp focus

-Stronger, more flexible and less stiff

-Better sleep – some people have more vivid dreams

-Enjoy seeing muscles appear on your arms, stomachs, hips, legs and backs. Good for toning flabby arms and tightening the abdomen

-Overall improvement in health, you don’t seem to catch colds or get sick as often

-Helps with depression and anxiety – lifts mood and improves well-being

-Feel younger and more powerful

-Improved breathing – deeper, slower and more conscious

-Increased levels of Qi (prana, life energy)

-Better posture

-Develops core strength, which provides a strong foundation for any other form of exercise or modern living

-Some people lose weight, most find it easier to control weight and desire healthier foods

-Improved digestion and elimination

The Five Tibetans can be strenuous, but modifications are shown and practiced in this introductory class open to students brand-new to the Tibetans and to those who want a refresher course. You’ll learn relevant warm-ups, how to perform each Tibetan with proper alignment and breathing, and how to avoid injury/ramifications of this powerful practice.

Each Five Tibetans Class will end with a NAAM Yoga Meditation, sealing in the positive, healing energy !

Gong Meditation -  Come relax, release, surrender, and let the vibration of the gong carry your stress, anxiety and negative thoughts away! Think of it as an hour long sivasana with healing sound!   As you listen to the gong’s sound, it will penetrate every cell and fiber of your body. The consequence is that your mind and body enter into a deep state of meditation where deep healing is possible. The sound vibrations are particularly powerful in clearing subconscious fears related to:
- Moving forward with confidence and faith
- Creating a life filled with love, joy and abundance
- Accessing the powerful Light within to heal self and others
- Realizing and accepting yourself to your highest potential
“The sound will carry you beyond your fears. The pressure (of the vibration of the gong) will release the nervous system of many illnesses… To regenerate the parasympathetic nervous system, nothing is more powerful than the sound of the gong.” –Yogi Bhajan
Hatha Gong™ Flow -  Hatha yoga postures are taught with the addition of precise vibrations generated by a live gong. This combination of asana posture and vibration enhances the meditative and transformational quality of the class. Hatha-Gong™ is a beautiful practice that will help both new and experienced students find an additional – and perhaps previously unexplored – layer in their conventional practice of postures. The experience uses the breath as the thread that binds the fabric together. It is about using the vibration of the gong to assist moving energy through the body and bring awareness to the chakras while engaged in yoga poses.  All Levels Welcome.
Healing Hands Therapy Yoga- Hold deep opening poses designed to stretch the connective tissue that holds our muscles together. Perfect for recovery, rehabilitation, or relaxing.  If you are working to heal from injury, using yoga to manage symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis or chronic conditions, want to reduce stress, need to stretch deeply, learn about alignment in practice and most importantly just relax, this class is for you. Therapy Yoga treats the specific injury/illness along with the rest of the attributes that make up the individual. Therapy Yoga empowers you in the healing process.
LIVEly Flow  w/ Yoga Nidra A playful and vitalizing sequence of flowing movement and breath (Vinyasa). In this class you will gain flexibility, strength, detoxify, and release tensions.
The last portion of class is Yoga Nidra, added to bring you to the ultimate state of relaxation and renewal. Students lie comfortably on their backs while Rachel transports the class into a conscious deep sleep, through step by step guided meditations, cultivating a deep sense of tranquility which encourages a complete inner healing at the core level.
On the most basic level, Yoga Nidra relaxes, rejuvenates and renews the physical body. Through regular practice, Yoga Nidra enables you to effortlessly realize your intentions and achieve an integrated state in which your body moves towards self-healing. ~Amrit Desai All Levels Welcome.

Naam® Yoga-  Naam Yoga is an amazing and unique fusion of the powerful yogic traditions of the East, with the wisdom and light of Universal Kabbalah from the West. It is a complete self-healing practice that removes stress and restores the flow of vital energy throughout the entire body and the brain. This art and science works with movement, sound current (mantra), breathing exercises, hand symbols (mudras), and the wisdom of the laws of nature, resulting in deep relaxation and cellular invigoration. Naam Yoga awakens consciousness, maintains a youthful glow, and opens the heart. Through its innovative use of movement, breath, and sound therapy, one achieves optimal health and well-being. It is the science of harmonizing unhealthy cellular memories and establishing beneficial vibrations within the physical and subtle bodies.

Naam Yoga is a great addition to any hatha/vinyasa/flow practice as the focus of the class is about truly opening the heart, expanding our perceived limits, and learning to master the areas that really trouble us in life – our emotions, thoughts, and subconscious patterns!  All Levels Welcome!

Prenatal YogaThe focus of this prenatal yoga class will be nurturing both to yourself and your baby, strengthening and stretching your body and calming your mind to release stress. SHAKTI NAAM - SHAKTI NAAM is a sophisticated and extremely healing form of yoga hardly known to the western world and practiced by yogic masters of the Himalayas in secret.

Shakti Naam class puts you in touch with your divine power. It fills you with prana (life force) so you can be magnetic and healthy.

Shakti Naam excerises are designed to slow down the aging process, strengthen the immune system, remove stress and keep disease away. This all levels class will involve standing postures with breath work for detoxification, vitality and strength.  The practice of Shakti Naam Yoga frees the body's wisdom to optimally express the blueprint in the DNA, bringing out the best version of that person. It is a powerful practice that focuses on liberating and activating the precious life force contained within so as to optimize the body.

In terms of the exercises, Shakti Naam is different than traditional Naam Yoga. With a heavy emphasis on breath and stretching within asanas, Naam Shakti focuses on opening the meridians, expanding lung capacity, stretching the subtle body, healing the mind and neutralizing the Body of Pain.  It looks and feels different from other forms of yoga and the energy released is felt by most new students within five minutes of its practice.

Powerful beyond words, the basic approach is relatively simple: use breath and mudra and asana to open the meridians and remove all blocks. It provides an almost immediate experience of the meditative state as it quickly causes the brain and nervous system to shift.

The class uses a specific series of unique exercises that train the brain and body to more easily experience this optimal state during daily life thus beneficially impacting one’s performance, communication, intelligence and health. Shakti Naam Yoga enhances the body’s capacity to nourish itself, much like a tree, with high quality solar prana, bringing oxygen to the brain, strengthening the heart, clearing energetic paths of the body and detoxifying and nourishing organs. It supports the body in building and activating the reservoir of healing energy located in the lower abdomen. It literally creates movement in the chest thus stimulating the heart and its large vessels and expanding lung capacity with strategies unlike most forms of exercise.  All Levels Welcome.

Restorative Yoga-  Restore the the body and mind with this deeply nourishing practice. It makes use of props (blocks, blankets, straps) to support and ease the body into poses that are held for longer periods of time. Great for the parasympathetic nervous system and reducing stress. You will leave feeling refreshed, relaxed, and renewed.  All Levels Welcome.

Rise & Shine Flow - The perfect way to start any morning! This creative, engaging and relaxing  flow class is an eclectic blend of many yogic traditions and styles. Each teacher brings their own style and sensibility to the practice, so each class is unique. What they all have in common is an intention to meet you at your level; modifying postures to accommodate varying needs, thus offering both beginning and advanced students a satisfying, accessible, and transformative yogic experience.  All Levels Welcome.
Yin Yoga- A slow and meditative practice that deeply stretches and nourishes the joints of the body, helping to generate much greater flexibility and core-level relaxation. The practice is designed to bring your Central Nervous System into "Rest, Digest and Restore" mode, where healing work at the cellular level can occur—like digestion, muscle repair, scar tissue production, organ detoxification and emotional processing. Think of it as an efficient way to catch up on all that sleep you missed over the years! Yin yoga sequences are often linked to Meridian theory, similar to the practice of acupuncture, and can help open up and balance the body's energetic pathways.  All levels welcome.
Yoga Foundations- Learn how to sit, stand, breathe and perform basic asana (postures) with form, alignment, and awareness. Perfect for those with injuries, pre/post natal, beginners or seasoned practicioners who want to refine their technique.  Instruction is presented in a FUN, Compassionate, Patient and Loving manner!  Beginners/ All Levels
