The Five Tibetans are known as the ancient "Rites of Rejuvenation" or the "Fountain of Youth."
These Rites are ancient yogic practices which were performed for thousands of years by monks in remote Himalayan monasteries and were considered magical because of their remarkable healing and rejuvenating effects.
The Five Tibetans will strengthen, energize and balance you. You’ll feel healthier, more alive! They are known to enhance bone mass, eliminate double chins, boost memory and immunity, improve eyesight, posture/spinal health, and more. They work by speeding up and creating balance in the flow of energy through seven energy centers (chakras), thus normalizing hormonal and nerve imbalances.
The true benefits of the 5 Tibetans are on a far deeper, hormonal level. Eastern medicine speaks of the chakras, a series of energy vortexes along the vertical line of the body. It is generally accepted that these energy centres relate to the endocrine system in Western medicine. The theory behind the Rites suggests that as we age, these chakras (and therefore glands) become either over-stimulated or underactive, resulting in aging and degeneration.
The actual sequence (performance order) of the movements themselves is significant. In yoga terms, this sequence is perfectly designed to create the very energizing and mood uplifting effects on the body for which the Rites are renowned.
Some other benefits include:
-Feel calmer and less stressed – your buttons simply don’t get pushed as easily anymore
-Develop significant mental clarity with a razor sharp focus
-Stronger, more flexible and less stiff
-Better sleep – some people have more vivid dreams
-Enjoy seeing muscles appear on your arms, stomachs, hips, legs and backs. Good for toning flabby arms and tightening the abdomen
-Overall improvement in health, you don’t seem to catch colds or get sick as often
-Helps with depression and anxiety – lifts mood and improves well-being
-Feel younger and more powerful
-Improved breathing – deeper, slower and more conscious
-Increased levels of Qi (prana, life energy)
-Develops core strength, which provides a strong foundation for any other form of exercise or modern living
-Some people lose weight, most find it easier to control weight and desire healthier foods
-Improved digestion and elimination
The Five Tibetans can be strenuous, but modifications are shown and practiced in this introductory class open to students brand-new to the Tibetans and to those who want a refresher course. You’ll learn relevant warm-ups, how to perform each Tibetan with proper alignment and breathing, and how to avoid injury/ramifications of this powerful practice.
Each Five Tibetans Class will end with a NAAM Yoga Meditation, sealing in the positive, healing energy !
Naam® Yoga- Naam Yoga is an amazing and unique fusion of the powerful yogic traditions of the East, with the wisdom and light of Universal Kabbalah from the West. It is a complete self-healing practice that removes stress and restores the flow of vital energy throughout the entire body and the brain. This art and science works with movement, sound current (mantra), breathing exercises, hand symbols (mudras), and the wisdom of the laws of nature, resulting in deep relaxation and cellular invigoration. Naam Yoga awakens consciousness, maintains a youthful glow, and opens the heart. Through its innovative use of movement, breath, and sound therapy, one achieves optimal health and well-being. It is the science of harmonizing unhealthy cellular memories and establishing beneficial vibrations within the physical and subtle bodies.
Naam Yoga is a great addition to any hatha/vinyasa/flow practice as the focus of the class is about truly opening the heart, expanding our perceived limits, and learning to master the areas that really trouble us in life – our emotions, thoughts, and subconscious patterns! All Levels Welcome!
Prenatal Yoga – The focus of this prenatal yoga class will be nurturing both to yourself and your baby, strengthening and stretching your body and calming your mind to release stress. Breathing techniques to help focus your mind will be taught. All this in preparation for your baby's birth. Take this opportunity to nurture yourself with other moms-to-be.
SHAKTI NAAM - SHAKTI NAAM is a sophisticated and extremely healing form of yoga hardly known to the western world and practiced by yogic masters of the Himalayas in secret.
Shakti Naam class puts you in touch with your divine power. It fills you with prana (life force) so you can be magnetic and healthy.
Shakti Naam excerises are designed to slow down the aging process, strengthen the immune system, remove stress and keep disease away. This all levels class will involve standing postures with breath work for detoxification, vitality and strength. The practice of Shakti Naam Yoga frees the body's wisdom to optimally express the blueprint in the DNA, bringing out the best version of that person. It is a powerful practice that focuses on liberating and activating the precious life force contained within so as to optimize the body.
In terms of the exercises, Shakti Naam is different than traditional Naam Yoga. With a heavy emphasis on breath and stretching within asanas, Naam Shakti focuses on opening the meridians, expanding lung capacity, stretching the subtle body, healing the mind and neutralizing the Body of Pain. It looks and feels different from other forms of yoga and the energy released is felt by most new students within five minutes of its practice.
Powerful beyond words, the basic approach is relatively simple: use breath and mudra and asana to open the meridians and remove all blocks. It provides an almost immediate experience of the meditative state as it quickly causes the brain and nervous system to shift.
The class uses a specific series of unique exercises that train the brain and body to more easily experience this optimal state during daily life thus beneficially impacting one’s performance, communication, intelligence and health. Shakti Naam Yoga enhances the body’s capacity to nourish itself, much like a tree, with high quality solar prana, bringing oxygen to the brain, strengthening the heart, clearing energetic paths of the body and detoxifying and nourishing organs. It supports the body in building and activating the reservoir of healing energy located in the lower abdomen. It literally creates movement in the chest thus stimulating the heart and its large vessels and expanding lung capacity with strategies unlike most forms of exercise. All Levels Welcome.
Restorative Yoga- Restore the the body and mind with this deeply nourishing practice. It makes use of props (blocks, blankets, straps) to support and ease the body into poses that are held for longer periods of time. Great for the parasympathetic nervous system and reducing stress. You will leave feeling refreshed, relaxed, and renewed. All Levels Welcome.
